Matakana Retreat is a world class immersive wellness retreat located in Auckland's Rodney district.
Founded and open to the public in May 2021 this private 50 acre refuge hosts native flora and fauna and a range of supportive and supplementary regenerative agriculture projects.
Designed to deliver delightful digital detox experiences that regenerate body, soul, mind, and the earth in harmony.

Matakana Retreat has gone from strength to strength and as the story has evolved, we realized we needed more space.
We are managing and improving a 57 hectare finishing block near the retreat, with plans to introduce a fully immersive, and thoroughly authentic regenerative farm experience.
From horse back treks, to growing and harvesting food, Persephone's Paddocks will allow people to touch the whenua/earth and engage with animals in a safe and meaningful way.

Wahine/Women are givers of life, and more than half the population of this planet.
Empowering and encouraging women to be creative, brave and connected is the purpose of this soon to be established charitable trust.
Regular events across the city and rural venues will be hosted by and for women and allies.
Annual creative competitions including Persphone's Poetry, and Persphone's Photography competitions are in place and will encourage women and allies to join the narrative and share their creative vision with this community and the world.

Looking Back...
We've been hit by the wettest summer on record in this part of Aotearoa. Time we'd hoped to be spending working on building and infrastructure has been dedicated to cleaning up and treading water (literally and figuratively) until we have the time, resources and a break in the weather needed to move ahead with several repairs and new projects. It's nice to remember that we've made some progress when progress has been slowed to such a heartbreaking extent.

Decades of rushing and rescuing and ignoring my own needs culminated in two nervous breakdowns in close succession. First was in 2018 and the final straw and total mic drop on that life and version of myself was in November 2019. This page is dedicated to the principles and practice of regeneration, radical self-acceptance and care, and living a simpler more meaningful life centred on curiosity, creativity, grace and growth.

Pond/wetland at top site is born
In this video you can hear the cicada chirping as it was late summer when it was filmed. I loaded it up to the page late winter and the pond is now full and we will be making it deeper in 2023.
